School Based Intervention Program ( SBIP )

Program Goal: Provide ADSIS supported School Based Intervention Services targeted for students at risk of meeting academic standards who without such service and intervention may have need for formal referral for special education and related services.

Target Population: Students K – 8, primarily K – 3 with emphasis on early literacy.

Interventionist Job Description

Required Qualifications: Degree in Education, Special Education, Social Work or related field. Experience working in public school settings with at risk, troubled students and their families. Must meet “highly qualified” requirements under current federal NCLB mandate.

Desired Qualifications: Ability to work independently within established guidelines with limited supervision and assistance. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively work with District Problem-Solving Teams in intervention development and facilitation.

Supervision: District = Bldg. Principal. Program = Director of Special Education or designee. Employment = Stellher Human Services.

Licensure: Eligible for license by State Board of Teaching and/or Social Work. Licensed by a Professional Board. Highly qualified ( documented ).

Position Activities

1. Serve as member of District ( building ) level Problem-Solving Team ( PST )
2. Assist in the screening, identification and selection of targeted students.
3. Assist in the case facilitation and implementation of Student Intervention Plans ( SIP ).
4. Work with parents/guardians of targeted students in implementation intervention
5. Assist with continuous monitoring of progress for targeted students
6. Complete monthly, quarterly reports as required as part of the SBIP.
7. Assist in data collection on measures of reading, writing, math and/or behavior.
8. Participate in necessary trainings as part of SBIP
9. Assist Families in accessing necessary and appropriate community based services
10. Other duties as may be assigned appropriate to the goals of the SBIP
